Photo meme

Thanks to the lovely Kate who tagged me for this (and yes, you did it correctly).

I am being suitably diligent and following the instructions:

1. Open the first (oldest) photo folder in your computer library
2. Scroll to the 10th photo
3. Post the photo and the story behind it
4. Tag 5 or more people to continue the thread.

So, here goes.

May 2003, France. Rowing camp.
Mr Man, aged 4 months, came along - as I did - almost by default as Other Half asked whether we would like to join the squad at its annual training camp (we met at a London rowing club, for those of you unfamiliar with the facts).
I thought it would be a 'nice break' from the new mum routine and that I might actually get in a paddle or two.

Oh no.

Mr Man was whisked off my hands by my coach, passed around other members of the club who took it in turns to look after him (conveniently passing the baby back to me only when he needed changing), and I ended up training in earnest once more.

Result? One very happy contented baby who gurgled and smiled at everyone and instantly became the club mascot.
And one LCM who was fit enough to race at Women's Henley again in June.

And I now tag:

Enjoy!

  1. A great meme idea and a lovely photo. Wow, so you're a rower. I tried to row once on the Thames from Hampton Court - let's just so I'm not a natural! Thanks so much for tagging me. :)

  3. Ladies - flattered by the praise but have to note that I WAS a rower. Have not set foot in a boat for 3 years now *sobs into her armpit* due to other, erm, commitments (also known as children).
Which, considering where I live (100m from the Tideway) and how close I am to the local rowing club (3 mins walk at s l o w pace), is pretty ridiculous.
I shall seek to amend once the wrist is sorted and they will actually let me back in a boat.

  5. Fab photos. That four year old has talent!

Which rowing club? Once upon a time I would be found down the Tideway in a boat...

  6. Kate - my sporting endeavours at present all seem to end in disaster. Maybe I should take up something more sedate, like knitting or painting? Would probably stab myself with the needle or paintbrush though...

FM - you know which one! We had this discussion last August via email. Hint: same as Bloomin' Marvellous.

  7. What a lovely pic.

And did you and your husband meet at a rowing (roe-ing) club, or a rowing (row-ing) club? I have this picture of a nice building where couples go to have a good argument. It stems from a Monty Python sketch, along those very lines.

Life is too important to be taken seriously (Oscar Wilde).
Leave me a comment. I may consider the alternative (LCM).

Yadda yadda yadda...
